Therapies

Therapies that we provide

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Our emotional reactions and behavior are strongly influenced by our thoughts and beliefs about ourselves or the situations that we find ourselves in.  Different thoughts can give rise to different emotions.  Cognitive behavioral therapy works towards identifying unhelpful thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that contribute to our distress.

The main goal for therapy is to help bring about desired changes in our lives.  A therapist and client work collaboratively to resolve identified, distressing problems.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
EMDR is best known for the treatment of trauma arising from experiences such as childhood abuse or neglect, natural disaster, assault, road traffic accidents and workplace accidents.  It may also be helpful in treating a number of other conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, nightmares and chronic pain.  It reduces the distress associated with painful memories and helps the brain to reprocess the memories.

CBT and EMDR are recommended and approved by NICE, the Department of Health's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.
